Pinless Meters use electro-magnetic wave technology which measures density in a 3-dimensionaI field underneath the instrument. If moisture varies within the segment, the meter cannot indicate the changes. Settings are available for correction of different wood species. Not affected by wood temperature. 

Pin Meters measure the 

electrical resistance . If moisture varies within the small measuring area, the highest value is indicated. Correction settings are available for wood species 

and temperature.

We recommend buying a pin meter first for its greater versatility and accuracy. But as a second meter we suggest the pinless Ligno-Scanner SD.

  1/64", 1/4", 3/4", 1 1/4" and

  Ligno-Scanner SD with dual

  measuring depth 1/4" and 3/4".

>Gives precise readings and is a

  good indicator for evenly or unevenly dried wood.

>Leaves two pin holes.

>Indicates highest moisture in area

  between pins. Can measure

  differences between core and 

  surface moisture  by using insulated

  pins which measure only at the   

  depth they are driven to.

>Not affected by surface texture or

  shape, as long as both pins can be

  inserted.

>Measuring depth up to 7" with #EL

  pins, can be extended by remote

  cables and probes.
